How did Drama Queen begin?

Miss Lydia Kypros began her affair with the stage some years ago as a young girl taking dance classes and subjecting her family to the annual ritual of the end of year performance. This of course was the most exciting part of each year with months of preparation, rehearsal and best of all the costumes- each one meticulously hand sequined and sewn by her mother.

After many years of classical training Lydia realised there was not a professional dancing career on the cards for her and after the closure of her dance school decided to satisfy any dance cravings with school musicals and alike. In this absence of dance she cultivated her obsession for beautiful lingerie and unhealthily began her collection which she still has today.

Years later during an insatiable thirst for something creative while working in an office 9-5, Lydia spotted a poster advertsing a 6 week course in dance classes. The style? Burlesque. This was the start of training and performance in the Burlesque scene. Combining her love for dance, lingerie and costume this was the epitome of Lydia's creative spirit and personality.

As the Melbourne Burlesque scene was breaking out, Lydia became aware that not only was there limited garment supply for Burlesque performance in Melbourne and Australia but the negative and sleazy stigma that was attached to the word and perception of Burlesque.

Lydia was determined to remove the seedy undertone for Burlesque performers everywhere and spread the power of seduction to every woman whether they were a stage performer or simply wanted to engage a little glamour and seduction behind closed doors. With the gentle nudge of her successful entrepreneur mother, Drama Queen Emporium was born.
